Madalyn and Pietro’s June wedding day blended classic Catholic tradition with an evening of joyful celebration at The Inverness in Englewood, Colorado. As a Denver wedding photographer, I loved how their Holy Ghost Catholic Church ceremony and Inverness reception created one seamless story centered on family, friends, and faith.
About Maddie & Pietro and their vision
When Maddie and Pietro described one of their favorite memories together—their proposal in Pinzolo—you could immediately feel how much they cherish meaningful places and shared experiences. They wanted their wedding to carry that same feeling: romantic, emotional, and rooted in something deeper than a single day.
With only a best man, and a maid of honor, they chose to keep their wedding party intentionally small so the focus stayed on their families, their community, and the Mass itself. They told me from the beginning that having “lots of pictures of our families, friends, and the Mass” was one of their top priorities, and that guided how we planned their photography from start to finish.
Holy Ghost Catholic Church in downtown Denver is one of the city’s most striking churches, with dramatic architecture and a rich, historic interior that feels instantly reverent when you walk in. Its tall ceilings, stained glass, and long central aisle create a timeless backdrop for vows, Eucharist, and all the quiet, faith‑filled moments of a Catholic wedding.
Madalyn and Pietro’s wedding day began with relaxed, candid getting‑ready moments at The Inverness with family and close friends, then moved into an 11 a.m. Catholic Mass at Holy Ghost where I worked quietly within the church’s photography guidelines and focused on the processional, Eucharist, and joyful recessional, followed by group photos with parents, immediate family, their small wedding party, and all guests; after portraits at both Holy Ghost and the lush summer grounds of The Inverness, their reception flowed from a laid‑back cocktail hour into buffet dinner, cake cutting, a heartfelt champagne toast, a special CL‑style singing segment, and hours of dancing—while their friend Nancy kept the timeline on track so I could concentrate on the group photos, couple portraits, and genuine, in‑between moments that mattered most to them.
A New Creation
The Inverness Denver, a Hilton Golf & Spa Resort in Englewood, sits about 20 minutes from downtown Denver. The resort is surrounded by manicured grounds, water features, and rolling golf greens, which give you plenty of beautiful spots for portraits between the ceremony and cocktail hour. Having everything at The Inverness—from prep in the morning to the evening party—also makes the day easier for guests and out‑of‑towners.
Engagement sessions included in every package
A big part of why Madalyn and Pietro’s portraits felt so natural was the time we spent together before the wedding. Engagement sessions are included in all of my wedding photography packages because they give us a low‑pressure chance to get to know one another, practice simple posing, and find what feels natural for you as a couple. Many couples tell me that those engagement photos end up being some of their favorite images, precisely because they’re created on a slower day focused just on the two of them rather than the full schedule of the wedding.
Why i love Holy Ghost and The Inverness
If you’re planning a Catholic wedding in Denver and want a reception space that feels like a retreat from the city, pairing Holy Ghost Catholic Church with The Inverness can be a beautiful option. Holy Ghost offers a deeply traditional, sacred setting in the heart of downtown, while The Inverness provides expansive, peaceful grounds, modern interiors, and plenty of room for a long, joyful reception.
This combination is especially great for couples who care about both the sacramental depth of the Mass and the chance to linger with family and friends afterward. With clear church guidelines, thoughtful planning, and a long summer day, you can have a celebration that feels unhurried, meaningful, and full of real, candid moments.
